Professor Groove Another Oregonian groove infested offering that I am so glad I was able to get on vinyl. Great name, great original sound musically and vox phrasing and enunciating. They actually had me at The first track, Mystic Goddess. Favorite track: Mystic Goddess.

Master of Alchemy After the disappointing new Alastor LP, Mystic Goddess saw me with my head in my hands in despair. It all sounds forced, like it's trying too hard & not succeeding. Low point is Wasteland, an abysmal song, and it's lyrics are worse, pure Blue-Pill simping - I have no time for that sh*t. Highlight is the sample on Lucifyre from David Icke, a tinfoil-hat conspiracy theorist who lives around my neck of the woods, and was a household name in the 1980s as a sports pundit on the BBC's Grandstand. Favorite track: Out of the Gallows.

JoopKonraad The intro starts with a rock noir sound that reminds of The Gun Club and Madrugada before shifting gear and turning into some blissful seventies inspired rock, heavenly fuzzed, bass heavy and with those twin guitars weaving, dancing and riffing...

StoneFly Effects ROTAW are back and they urge us to worship the Mystic Goddess. The songs are vibrant, almost hallucinatory and absolutely groovy. The album is wrapped up with sublime vocals. Sure thing, these Portland’s heralds of the galactic riff offers us an uncanny blend of Desert Rock, Heavy Psych, Stoner Rock and Doom Metal that is purely blazing. Yup, something to put in the AOTY end list!!! Favorite track: Agua Caliente.

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor
